March 31 BansheesRight I’ve made the bench. It was a bit of a struggle. I started it yesterday when I got home from work and then again after dinner. I bought a couple of bits of wood for the legs a week or so ago and the top is made of the old banister rail which wasn’t quite wide enough so I routed out the upright from the banister and set it between two bits of that. Unfortunately the router made a noise like a thousand screaming banshees so it was in the back of my mind that any number of neighbours could come round and launch me into space without a space ship, so I knocked it on the head till morning Today I have screwed it all together and set it in place. It looks passable and the drill is on top of it, I’ve just got to make sure that its all perfectly level when its bolted firmly in place. The inside of the shed is beginning to look like a bit of a spaceship itself. I showed the inside of the shed to my nephew and he said it would be better with a dartboard. March 24 MicrophoneI introduced a microphone to the computer yesterday and today I found out how to switch it on. I have now introduced my Banjo to sound forge and to me it sounds great. I am better on the banjo than I thought I was (still got a long, long way to go). I also bought the wood to make the bench for the bench drill, that has made it into the shed but it is still only bits of wood. The bench making will have to wait till next week as there is a full day tomorrow that cannot be put off for any reason on earth.
March 18 FENCE UPJust finished the fence.took me two days more or less it looks ok. It needs a few little touches but its too dark now. Here is a picture of the bench drill. Its just started thundering and lightning here and snowing as well. finished in the nick of time eh. March 16 FenceFinished work at three. Dropped off Danny down town (something bout a hair cut) and picked up Marie, we went looking for a fence. Started at Build abase or whatever its called, bit expensive. Tried Jewsons they didn't have any and neither did Travis Perkins. Stopped off at focus do it all, the shop that we lovingly call dofuckall and surprise surprise they had everything. It’s getting delivered tomorrow. Can’t wait I just love digging holes.
March 14 new drillI got a new bench drill today.
It turned up at work, I only ordered it last week. It cost me a hundred and eighty quid but I couldn't get it cheaper anywhere else. I love it. I'll show you some pictures as soon as I take some. Its gone into the shed but it hasn't got a home yet because its a little bigger than I thought it would be so I've got to knock up some type of bench for it. Marie wants me to put up a garden fence so thats going to have to be first. I'll do that this weekend.
March 11 space ship againBack to the shed again. This is the plan. I’ve been thinking about how to make a machine that levitates for near on thirty years now so I figure it's time to build it. I'm going to fill the shed with tools and get rid of some of the crap that’s found a home in there and then I'm going to set about machining the wonderful machine. It will probably take another thirty years. I only hope it works. I'll keep you posted on the progress, I've already started practising with a mini lathe and immediately found I need some kind of milling machine so that’s next on the list.
March 04 space shipwell that didn't go according to plan spent about ten minutes telling you all about my shed and tried to add a photo and the whole thing got lost in the aether somewhere. Now you may never know.
Ok thats the shed. have a look if you've a mind to. I had to clear up the garden with paintshop pro so that Marie wouldn't see a tip on the interfeck. The other photo is me building the shed before I filled it with crap. |
